US-based firm Leo A Daly has completed the masterplan and concept design for Aegean Breeze at Alaçati, a five-star beach resort on the western coast of Turkey which will open in summer 2012.

The concept design includes a large-scale marine park with pools and refreshment areas, an 80-room boutique luxury hotel featuring retail, restaurants and a thermal spa and 120 beach villas in a private enclave for long-term residents.

Leo A Daly is working with local architect Yavuzlar Proje to envisage plans for the 81,000-square-metre site for Turkish client Tek-Arts Ins.

Tensile fabric roofs create an identity for the resort while providing shade for visitors throughout its public spaces.

“Inspired by the breezes of the Aegean Sea, the motion of gulls in flight and the natural patterns of the landscape, the design captures the spirit of the region’s sailing and surfing culture, as well as creates a level of intimacy and class intended to attract tourists from across the world,” said Walt Geiger, director of design for Leo A Daly.
