UAE: DWP Bahrain has completed a project to breathe new life into the existing Rib Room in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai, as well as designing the interiors for The Agency, adjacent to the restaurant creating a flow between the two areas to serve pre-dinner drinks.
The venue pays homage to the original Rib Room at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower, in London. Sue Henson from DWP was the design director on the project.
“We had some limitations as it was a refurbishment of the existing space and budget was fixed. We had to keep some of the elements such as floor and wall finishing and tried to integrate this with a new layout and features,” said Kristina Zanic, executive director, DWP.
“We achieved a great result by providing a space that was intimate, met the design objectives and gave the client some flexibility in the layout as well as providing two large private dining areas.”
All furniture and finishes were custom-made for the venue and it has lots of dark leathers, hides and rich dark timber. The booths that flank either side of the main restaurant have semi-private areas for business meetings.
“The space has a great mood particularly with the lighting, the dark timbers, contrasting chair finishes and textured timber wall panels. The restaurant had a complete transformation and the reception to the new design was overwhelming.” Zanic added.
