Embracing local values and styles, internationally acclaimed Dutch designer Piet Boon has designed Jawaher Luxury villas in Northern Riyadh.
With a strong emphasis on wide-open living spaces, Jawaher offers 145 three-level residences with four different floorplans to choose from. All villas share a modern concept while differing from one another in layout, colour scheme, materials used and styling.
Boon comments: “It is a hallmark of our design philosophy to incorporate the local vernacular, art and heritage in our design. For this project, we have looked into the rich history and heritage of the architecture of the KSA and were overwhelmed with the beauty of the use of the materials and meaningful traditions. All this is reflected in the contemporary architecture, which draws its inspiration from the past while being innovative at the same time.”
Inside, each home features materials, colours and finishes designed to convey the local culture. Homes feature connecting spaces and long sightlines, enabling a flowing transition from one living space to other. High ceilings provide a dramatic sense of space while large glass sliding doors bring in natural light and offer views of the courtyard surrounding the homes.
Natural marble stone flooring provides natural cooling along with porcelain tiles that are used throughout the homes, providing an aesthetic that resembles luxurious wooden floors.
This is the first residential project of its kind to come to this part of Saudi Arabia. Robert Hofmann, CEO for Al-Tahaluf Real Estate, says: “We knew from our research that buyers in Riyadh are looking for something different – a new type of living experience.”
