Address Hotels + Resorts has recently unveiled its new city lifestyle resort, Address Boulevard and its signature dining space The Restaurant.

The venue has been designed by London-based Virgile + Partners, the retail, hotels and restaurant-design specialists, headed by Carlos Virgile.

The new culinary concept draws on the cosmopolitan character of Dubai and its diverse tourism demographics while the interiors simulate the experience of a luxurious European apartment of a well-travelled family in the 1920s.

“Our ‘eureka’ moment came from imaging the hotel’s dining space as a luxury residential setting where the ‘owners’ enjoy their surroundings and invite their friends to share their place,” Virgile explained in a statement.

“The traditional all-day dining restaurant has now been transformed into a more luxurious and a vibrant culinary outlet simulating the look, feel and ambience of a luxury home.”

The Restaurant features a Kitchen, Lounge, Living Room, and Library as well as a Collection Room, Games Room and Music Room in addition to a secret private dining room.

“We had great fun imagining the type of person who would live in a place like this, what kind of things he or she would enjoy, their taste in fashion and food, and what art and objects they would prefer to be surrounded with,” said Virgile.

“Although we wanted guests to feel as though they were part of an exclusive private residence, we ensured the design followed the principles of the hotel – creating contrast and differences between rooms within one overall signature style.”

This approach established a design narrative that feels both natural and exciting, he said.

“As in an apartment interior, the layout offers opportunities to sit at the Living room, or the Study or Dining room or the central circular gallery type space for the display of objects and art.”

The space also features a variety of seating arrangements and furniture and this changes from room to room, together with the interior design and colour palette.

There are two small but very special rooms: a hidden Secret Room that can accommodate a private party of four to be discovered behind a bookcase in the Study room; and a  luxury walk-in wardrobe dubbed the Dressing Room.

“This is the sense of curiosity we want to create at The Restaurant at Address and the possibility of having totally different experiences in different occasions – in one place – as well as in repeat visits,” Virgile added.

The reading room resembles a library with wall to wall bookshelves holding books on art, food, architecture, design and culture.

Virgile qualified as an architect in Buenos Aires and worked extensively in Brazil and Europe, moving to London in 1979.

He joined Fitch PLC where he held the position of creative director undertaking many prestigious retail, and restaurant interior projects.

In 1990 he founded Virgile & Stone Associates as a subsidiary of The Imagination Group. The specialised consultancy established an impressive portfolio of clients across the globe in the retail, hotel and leisure sectors.

The business was recently incorporated as an integrated offer within the Imagination Group in 2011under the banner of Virgile + Partners.
