UAE: Bare Global, the Dubai-based development and design company, which deals in hospitality and entertainment, has won an entertainment project at the Westin Hotel, in Gurgaon, India.

The firm has been appointed as the concept and branding designers for the venue near New Delhi, and will manage the design development of a new high-energy bar, which is part of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide.

The brief is to design ‘a high energy bar’ on the first floor and roof terrace of ‘a very striking and individual building’ called ‘The Bean’ (the building is designed in the curved shape of a bean).

The inspiration for the interior of the venue came from the industrial and emerging city of Gurgaon. Materials include rust coloured concrete panelling, bronze fused metals, dark wooden ribs, which will run along the length of the space, cylindrical lighting tubes and leather flooring.

The gritty and rugged space is juxtaposed with the elegant furniture and fine detailing.

Bare Global is working closely with the hotel owners, Vatika Group of Gurgaon, and the Westin Hotel’s management team to create an unusual and lively destination venue. Details of the new design include lighting combinations and a variety of materials featuring stone, wood and metals.

Facilities include a light food service, live music and DJ entertainment as well as a large roof terrace with views over the hotel gardens. The venue will feature a continual programme of local and international performers as well as DJs.

Simon Duke, executive director, Bare Global, said its design team won the contract after it was recommended for the project by a prominent industry figure, and this led to an initial meeting in Gurgaon with Vatika Group and the local Westin general manager and senior management team.

“Another prominent international design firm had produced advanced design development work, but the owner was not satisfied with their direction,” he said.

“We agreed to develop a completely new layout, design mood and operating style on spec and, fortunately, we were on the mark for both the owners and Westin.

“The brief is to create the most exciting, happening, ‘we have to be there’, destination in the NCR (The Leela Kempinski Gurgaon Delhi). With an inviting, dynamic and flexible interior environment coupled with great food, great drinks and an international music and entertainment programme.”

Duke said the project will take six months to complete.

“We are excited to be working on our first project with the Vatika Group and Westin Hotels. This new project promises to set a new standard in the entertainment scene in Delhi and Gurgaon, and possibly in India as a whole,” he added.

The company recently partnered with Tokyo interior design company, AGE, on a Middle East and India joint venture.

AGE will bring interior design experience and creativity to the partnership, whilst Bare Global will bring management expertise, including project coordination, documentation and production control processes and knowledge of the Middle East region.

Projects in the Middle East include; Cipriani dining and entertainment complex, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, Hed Kandi beach club, Egypt, Honyaki Japanese restaurant, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, Meydan golf clubhouse and sports bar, Dubai, Ministry of Sound, Egypt and EQ2 Edutainment Complex, Abu Dhabi.
