Jacob Sardini Co, an Italian furniture provider and interior design studio, and the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID) will host a Student Project Day on May 28, 2011.
World Interiors Day (WID) falls on the last weekend of May each year, and UAE’s event will be held at the Jacob Sardini flagship store in Dubai, where students are invited to exhibit their project work. The 2011 theme of the event is green interiors.
“We wanted to support young talent in the UAE, both interior design and architecture students who will be given a chance to showcase their best work. We are trying to give them a public platform,” said Evelin Novikova, executive assistant, Jacob Sardini.
Interior design projects will be presented from the American University of Dubai (AUD), American University of Sharjah (AUS), Ajman University, Manipal University and Al Hussein University of Abu Dhabi.
Each university has selected the best work from their students, which will be displayed in the Jacob Sardini showroom on Saturday, and for the next 10 days.
WID is an annual global event, headed by the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI).
The aim of the event is to bring interior architecture/design to the attention of the public, to enhance knowledge and understanding about the profession, and to encourage cooperation between professionals with a focus on the range of work of interior designers and their contributions to society.
The event will be held from 11am to 11pm at the Jacob Sardini showroom next to the Dubai Garden Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road.
