Zeynep Fadilioglu ‘first female architect to design a mosque’

According to Zheena McKenzie in the new CNN series, ‘Leading Women’, Turkish architect Zeynep Fadilioglu may be the first female architect to design a mosque.

Currently developing her third, Fadilioglu had once “purposely placed the women’s section in one of the most beautiful parts of the light flooded dome,” said McKenzie of the notable act as men and women are often separated for prayer in mosques, with women being given the smaller spaces.
