After making its debut last year, the Commercial Interior Design editorial team has, once again, presented the Lifetime Achievement award to an individual who has stood out throughout the industry this past year.
This year’s winner demonstrated continued quality throughout his work in a long and successful career, full of significant milestones, plus a consistent contribution to the development of one or more organisations.
Lars Waldenstrom, founder, LW Design was lucky enough to receive this year’s title and was chosen due to his work on high profile and iconic projects in the UAE, and his ability to work under a lot of pressure.
Upon receiving the award, Waldenstrom said: “To win such an award means everything to me. It’s a tribute to the hard work that’s been undertaken over the last 35 years here in Dubai.
“When I first came here Dubai was unknown and I originally started by working on some projects for Sheikh Mohammed and, since then, Dubai has grown immensely.”
He added: “I can’t pinpoint one particular achievement which stands out over the others but if I had to choose something I would say that the Grosvenor House Dubai and Buddha-Bar project stand out. I’m proud of each and every project I’ve worked on over the years.”
It’s increasingly difficult to dine out in Dubai without unwittingly stepping into an LW-designed space. Conceived as a hospitality interior design practice, LW Design Group launched in 1999. The trademark of LW Design is its clean lines and functional spaces.
