World famous architect Henning Larsen passes away

Prolific Danish architect, Henning Larsen,  has died in his Copenhagen home at the age of 87 .

Famous in the Middle East for his design of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Larsen cultivated a strong following of young architects whom he inspired with his work.

Although Larsen was no longer working at Henning Larsen Architects, the firm he founded in 1959, he still closely followed the development of new designs and would often discuss details with his staff.

His most recent projects include the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Reykjavik, Iceland, which won this year’s European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, the Mies van der Rohe Award.
