Mivan has secured a $10.5m contract to fit-out the Royal Suite of the new King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, it has been revealed.

The new contracts at KASC is designed to create inspirational, world-class sporting facilities for Saudi Arabia. This development is seen as one of the most important projects in the history of modern construction in the kingdom.
Mivan’s business development and marketing manager Lee Campbell said: “King Abdullah is overseeing its progress and his vision is to tackle the escalating lifestyle-related health problems developing amongst the Saudi population by encouraging the younger generation to become more active.”
The stadium is the centrepiece of the King Abdullah Sports City development and has a capacity of 60,000. It also has a 500-person mosque within the overall scheme.
Design development and procurement has been finalized at Mivan’s Antrim & London offices. The project will be completed later this year. The client is Saudi Aramco and Mivan will be working directly for the main contractor on the project – BESIX – Al Muhaidib.

The company has completed similar projects at Ascot Racecourse, Wembley Stadium, ECHO Arena (Liverpool) and the O2 Arena in Greenwich, London. This contract follows on from the recent announcement of over $12m secured in cruise ship fit-outs during 2013. Mivan continues to win work in the commercial and prime residential sectors in London and has secured over £70m of new projects in the past twelve months.
