In pictures: Marcel Wanders opens deluxe Grand Portals Nous in Majorca

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts opened its newest hotel, the Grand Hotel Portals Nous in one of Majorca’s most exclusive areas. The 66-room hotel includes four double penthouses with a private terrace and Jacuzzi, and five themed suites, all designed by Marcel Wanders.

Renowned Dutch designer used transparencies, whites, and reflective surfaces to create a flow of openness.

Emphasising craft and tactile design, the Mallorquin style is reinforced, inspiring guests with the scenery of Spain.

From the lobby’s bouquet motif to the boundless luxury of the hotel’s 66 rooms, four penthouse suites and five themed suites, guests discover a recurrent theme of life.

Outside are gardens and a pool with a 30+ metre water cascade and bar. A secret garden offers clandestine seating areas, day beds and a Tree of Life.

The accommodation options include two Naughty Suites and a Stargazer Suite. The Games Suite features a pinball machine, table football, and video game console while the Heritage Suite has been designed with arts and antiques in mind.

Last year, designMENA met Wanders during Design Days Dubai, where he was showcasing his collection of limited-edition pieces, which he described as his personal playground “a place without restrictions”.
