In pictures: Nepalese landmarks ‘Before and After’ earthquake

When a 7.8-magnitude earthquake devastated the nation of Nepal, countless landmarks and important architectural structures were affected.

Monuments in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, are UNESCO World Heritage site’s due to their distinctive architecture, and it is some of these recognisable buildings that are now pieces of rubble.

Out of these, one of the most recognisable is the Dharahara Tower in Kathmandu which was brought down by the force of the earthquake, as well as the centre of Nepal’s capital, the Durbar Square where the tower is located.

One of the holiest Buddhist sites have also been hit by the natural disaster.
