In pictures: Salerno Maritime Terminal by Zaha Hadid opens in Italy

Hadid’s new Salerno Maritime Terminal has been designed to enable regional, national and international ferries and cruise ships from across the globe to dock in Salerno, allowing passengers to visit the towns and villages of the Amalfi Coast. The project was inaugurated today, Monday.

 Shaped like an oyster, the building aims to steer passengers from the ground level to the upper deck boarding points. By night, the terminal takes on a radiant glow and appears as a lighthouse for the historic port city.
