In pictures: Zaha Hadid’s Tokyo Olympic stadium

Zaha Hadid has unveiled spectacular designs of the new Olympics stadium for Tokyo 2020, featuring an 80,000 capacity arena with a retractable roof.

Although the firm faced some adversity from architects in Japan, Japanese architect  Tadao Ando, who was part of the panel which selected Hadid for the role of creating the stadium, said: “I believe this stadium will became a shrine for world sport for the next 100 years.”

It appears to be much of an over statement when some one visualizes it as a shrine of sports for the next 100 years. Japan is perhaps known for its sublime architecture. The present design to me is showy and shockingly unlike a shrine.
