MENA projects shortlisted for the 2018 World Architecture Festival Awards

Zaha Hadid Architect’s research centre in Riyadh, a mosque without a minaret in Iran, and a housing project for refugees are among the shortlisted projects from the MENA region for the 2018 World Architecture Festival (WAF).

Sheltainer – Where Humanity Meets Hope, Egypt

This year’s edition received over 1,000 entries, with 536 shortlisted entries across 81 countries, including those from the Middle East and North Africa. The shortlist is split into two categories, highlighting concept designs under “Future” projects as well as “Completed” projects – both of which have various categories spanning various sectors in architecture.

During the ceremony in November (28-30) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands – WAF will also announce the World Building of the Year, Future Building of the Year, Interior of the Year, as well as the Landscape of the Year – in addition to all the category winners.
