In pictures: Aga Khan Award shortlist

The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) has announced the 2013 cycle of shortlisted projects for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.

AKDN is a group of private, international, non-denominational development agencies that seek to better the quality of life in underdeveloped regions by tackling health, environment, education and development issues, among others.

The projects that have been listed for an award span across the world and range from architectural restorations, such as the revitalisation of the Birzeit Historic Centre in Palestine, to humanitarian efforts, like the Post-Tsunami Housing in Sri Lanka.
