Renders revealed for the world’s longest zip line developed in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has announced that it will be opening the world’s longest zip line in December this year.

Located on the UAE’s highest peak, Jebel Jais, the project will be operated by Toro Verde – a subsidiary of the Puerto Rico-based Magno Genesis Holding Group, which has developed the current Guinness world record-breaking 2,200 metre zip line in Puerto Rico.

Toro Verde has signed on to build, operate, and maintain the project.

In addition to the zip line, the project includes a dedicated VIP lounge and a welcome centre.

RAKTDA, being a sponsor of the United Nations International Year of Sustainabile Tourism for Development 2017, has expressed its commitment to sustainability and eco-tourism, with construction of the zip line and its supporting structures and facilities designed to have a positive impact on the environment.

The Tourism Authority has said that local expertise and materials have been sourced where possible, in addition to utilising environmentally-friendly resources in specific areas of the site, including LED lighting and photo voltaic fabric materials, that will allow for the generation of clean energy for operations.

“We want visitors to enjoy the pleasure of experiencing the stunning mountains and nature without impacting the environment, said Jorge Jorge, CEO of Tore Verde Ras Al Khaimah.

The zip line adventure project will consist of three phases, with Phase 1 scheduled for delivery in December 2017. The value of Phase 1 is estimated at $2m to $3m.

The actual length of the zip line has not been released, but it will be longer than 28 football fields, according to RAKTDA.

Phases 2 and 3 are expected to be ready by May and December 2018, respectively.

The zip line will serve as Ras Al Khaimah’s main flagship tourism product, RAKTDA said.
