    “Paired with all the usual luxuries of a premium lounge, Base features a multi-tiered adaptable and amphitheatre layout with a central bar and different seating levels around. Corian has been used for the table tops and bar, as well as vinyl flooring for the different levels. All the sofas are upholstered with an outdoor PVC to resist the harsh weather.”

    “With the new restaurant housed within an open-beach house structure served by a dedicated kitchen building and set in a matured landscape with a terracing lounge garden, pool deck and private beach, the architects have captured the Balearic relaxed atmosphere, synonymous with the original Es Cavallet Ibizan restaurant & beach club. The challenge for Anarchitect was to creatively divide the existing landscape and spaces of the property to accommodate new programs adding the new central restaurant structure, kitchen building alongside the new upper entrance garden and connection to the lower pool deck and beach front area while creating a unique and hip social venue.”

    “The client's concept for The Grill Pit is the element of fire with the ambience and mood to be relaxed and comfortable and the finishes rustic yet refined. The seating capacity required is 150 combined indoor and outdoor wherein the seating should be flexible enough to be able to combine several tables together. The use of local craftsmanship paired with carefully selected materials, decoration and lighting proves vital to the rhythm of the guests and defines the overall feel of the restaurant.”

    “The brief was to take the existing successful LSB brand and concept, upscale it into a space, three times the size, retaining the essence of its DNA and unique atmosphere, building on its success, while providing new original, exciting additions in the form of a street food concept and an outside terrace. Dark natural materials are used to achieve the rustic, industrial look, rich accents of vintage colour stimulate the eye in key elements such as the comfortable leather furniture, restructured, redundant shipping containers and reclaimed and custom made tables from Indonesian boat wood and oil drums.”

    “The interior materials selected were specifically used in creating the venues ultimate authenticity to its inherent culture and association with Cuba. This was achieved through the use of its raw poured concrete floorings with differing degrees of grit blasted stencilled patterns applied in situ - reminiscent of traditional Havana townhouses. Colour dominates within creating a myriad of tonal shades from the hard material finishing, decorative surfaces and upholstery within. Each piece of furniture was sourced from architectural salvage from the one-piece trunk high top communal table down to the barber’s chairs fixed at the bar.”

    “The client brief was to create a nightclub venue, with a theatrical atmosphere that would bring a new direction to the world of nightlife and stage entertainment. The overall design features the use of dynamic and high-end materials such as Senso flooring which breaks up into different patterns, intriguing lighting and full LED walls that create optical illusions, Swarovski studded crystal carpets and three dimensional reflective ceilings, transporting you to new world of performance and entertainment with an elite sense of exclusivity.”

We are delighted to present the shortlist for the Commercial Interior Design Awards 2017.

The final shortlist in each of the 17 categories presents the projects, interior design firms and designers making their mark on the region’s interior design industry.

Today, we reveal all the shortlisted projects under Interior Design of the Year: Bars & Clubs.

The winners and highly commended for the CID Awards 2017 will be announced on 13 September at a gala ceremony, taking place at the Joharah Ballroom in Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah.
