Colour company Pantone has just unveiled the 2017 Colour of the Year: Greenery.
DesignMENA picks products inspired by a “tangy yellow-green”.
1. Aquario cabinet by Campana brothers
The Aquário cabinet by Campana brothers for BD Barcelona Design presented is available in two distinct colours. Humberto and Fernando Campana have used ash wood and stained pine and coloured glass to fill blob-shaped gaps. The internal shelves are also made of glass to conserve the materials transparency and serving to let light pass through.

Designed by Patricia Urquiola, the Gender armchair is dressed in layers, with textures and colours that meet and contrast to create an adaptable lexicon in relation to its surrounding environment. 3. Cradle collection by Layer and Benjamin Hubert for Moroso
Benjamin Hubert’s design studio Layer has expanded and updated its Cradle collection for Italian furniture brand Moroso, featuring a stretch-mesh material made using new digital knitting techniques.
4. Peacock chair by Cappellini
Designed by Dror Benshetrit back in 2009, Cappellini’s Peacock is an armchair created entirely of a single sheet of felt wrapped over a metal base varnished in dark brown. Two-tone felt combining a base of grey with green and blue or one-tone felt green or blue: a soft material with gentle edges that magically transforms into a functional, comfortable and inviting product.
5. Furia rocking horse by Front
Stockholm studio Front based its minimal rocking horse for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna on a bent-wood chair from the furniture brand’s archive. The rocking horse comes with an upholstered leather seat in a range of colours, including green.
6. Piani lamp by Bouroullec brothers
The green version of Bouroullec’s Piani lamp for Flos fits right in with this year’s colour of the Year. The Piani collection is made up of a flat base and a flat top. The base is either a tray so that objects can be displayed in a triangular beam of light as if they were on stage. Piani comes in plastic as well as in oak wood and basalt stone, so that different sensual experiences are suggested
