www.klafs.comKlafs has launched the Tangram spa, combining a sauna, steam bath, shower area and relaxation zone. Designer, Martin Schultheiss, believes interior architectural trends are moving in the direction of living concepts with open room structures. Individual areas merge into each other to become connected living units. This is also the case with the Tangram spa, which opens up into the room. The large glass front has a view of the interior, consisting of sauna, steam bath and shower area and the steam bath is dominated by strict geometric structures, and the materials glass, metal and stone. Inside the sauna, the walnut wood decorates the walls and different eye catchers give it a unique appearance and function. The combining element of the cubicles is the shower and cooling-down area, which is made from natural black stone. It is controlled from the Touchcontrol Professional, colour touch screen.

www.franziskakessler.com“Give him enough rope, and he can furnish the whole house” – this is what the New York Times had to say about the design method of French designer Christian Astuguevieille. Cords, twines or ropes are the most important base material for the 63-year old designer to create his unica: chairs, sofas, chests of drawers, mirrors, lamps and tables. Members of the public know Astuguevieille more for his fashion labels, such as his leather accessories by Nina Ricci, rather than his furniture. “It is important for me to lead people to get involved with new things, to dream, to embark on a journey,” he said. In his Parisian atelier, the passionate collector has compiled a rich archive of finds, fabrics and materials from all over the world. It includes innumerable storage boxes containing sponges from Mauritius or hand-scooped paper from Japan. The Miraki Commode is made from raw cotton rope and oak and comes in white.

www.outdoorzgallery.comThe Meltdown Series is an experimental process developed by UK designer Tom Price, which uses a variety of commonplace plastic products to create a collection of sculptural seating. Despite its appearance, the chair is functional and comfortable. The mould of the seat is based on the shape of an Eames chair. It is created by heating and pressing a seat-shaped former into a ball of polypropylene rope. The rope begins to liquify when it comes into contact with the heated object and, as it cools, it sets the shape of a seat, creating a contrast in form and texture.
