Commercial Interior Design Awards would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. Here you have a chance to get to know them. Today, we introduceALEC Fitout and Fagerhult. ALEC Fitout
ALEC Fitout specialises in the build, fit out and refurbishment of hotels, resort spas, retail, cinema, leisure and exhibition spaces in the UAE, Qatar and Oman. CID’s Interior Contractor of the Year 2014 is Silver sponsor again and will present Interior Design of the Year: Bars and Clubs award.
“CID is an important publication to showcase the leading interior design and fit-out companies in the UAE. The awards event is always a good night and a great way to meet our peers in the design and fit out industry,” says Laurent Farge, general manager at ALEC Fitout.
“The strength of entries demonstrates that the GCC construction industry is still a place where innovation can thrive and excellence is rewarded. We have a variety of fit out projects on our books at the moment, ranging from 5-star hotels to airport lounges, cinemas, shopping malls, office and residential towers to standalone private villas.”
Commenting on the main challenges facing fit out contractors in 2016, Farge says that programme, payment and MEP coordination are among the most common ones.
“Some clients have very aggressive project duration expectations – but in order to achieve a world class quality of finish, sufficient time is required for the works. Timely payment by the client facilitates a successful project. Wherever possible we prefer MEP to be in our scope as this reduces coordination and access risk on our works.”
Looking at the projects currently under design and at planning stage, Farge says the UAE will develop truly world class and iconic developments in the coming years.
Silver sponsor Fagerhult is one of Europe’s leading lighting companies, which operates a number of brands originated in Sweden (atelje Lyktan and Fagerhult), UK (Whitecroft and Designplan), Belgium (WACO), Turkey (Arlight), Germany (LTS and LED Linear), Australia (Eagle Lighting) and Finland (iValo), each retaining their unique stylistics and functionality.
“Fagerhult has taken up the initiative to support the CID Awards 2016, one of the major events on the Middle East interior design scene and undoubtedly the most important one in celebrating original and innovative projects and interior designers making their mark on the region’s interior design industry,” says John Carruthers, managing director of Fagerhult Middle East and North Africa.
Innovation and originality are the two key notions when it comes to Fagerhult’s products.
“Some brands are more focused on commercial interior than others; for example, atelje Lyktan with its Ogle series, a one of a kind spotlight in two diameters and multiple mounting modes, or Hood, an ideal solution for open-plan environments, functioning both as a light source and a sound barrier, helping to create a more intimate space in the contemporary office landscape,” says Carruthers.
Fagerhult has released its bestseller Lepo with LED light source – with its clear lines and excellent light quality, available in three sizes, it can be used alone or in groups creating a modern chandelier in high-ceiling areas.
