With more than 50 manufacturing locations worldwide, Kohler has been in the MENA region for more than 30 years and stands this year as a Gold sponsor for the CID Awards.
Commenting on the reasons for sponsoring the event, Bassel Ozon, area manager for the Middle East says: “Design runs in Kohler DNA and that we cherish our relationships with designers worldwide. The CID Awards 2016 is vital for Kohler as an opportunity to increase the company’s brand awareness among interior designers in the region.”
Founded in 1873 and headquartered in Kohler, Wisconsin, Kohler Co is one of the oldest and largest privately held companies in the US employing more than 30,000 associates.
Ozon adds that Kohler has design studios around the world, including the USA, UK, France, India and China. He explains, these design studios give Kohler fluency in local culture, and the ability to understand the relevance of local products to people globally.
“One of the main challenges that designers and architects face is finding specific products to suit cultural and regional tastes. Kohler’s whole philosophy in design is to fuse local culture and regional tastes with the values of the company to fuel creativity and design leading-edge products relevant to the customer.
It’s this belief that has led us to found studios for design globally so that our creative associates are immersed in life and have a sensitivity to what really matters,” says Ozon.
“You will see more and more specific products for the Middle East launched. Thus far we have been absorbing cultural needs and influence and have created of Artist Editions vessels, while our range of PVD finishes has extended to now include Rose Gold.”
What most excites Kohler in the MENA region is the opportunity to tackle some of the world’s most interesting challenges when it comes to creating a customised, luxuriously comfortable bathroom.
“Innovation does not stop at Kohler,” says Ozon. “We have recently launched our exquisite collection of faucets, the Avid, Composed, Beitou and Loure collections, which have been inspired by high fashion. These collections will anoint the bathroom with a touch of panache, and their unique design will become a personal style statement. Both Avid and Composed collections won the RedDot Design Award for 2015.”
With a strong focus on sustainability, Kohler launched its 3-litre flush toilet in the Middle East this year as well as Konnect system in Shanghai, which allows for easy control of smart bathroom gadgets through a handy mobile app.
