Nendo uses layered fabrics to create Alcantra-wood exhibition during Milan Expo 2015

Japanese design studio Nendo has collaborated with Italian material manufacturer Alcantara to create ‘Alcantara-wood’, in conjunction with the Expo Milan 2015.

The exhibition “Alcantara, technology and dreams” is taking place at the Palazzo Reale in Milan and consists of a collection of chairs and a table.

The distinctive character of the furniture is the layering fabric that comes in various colours and is then rolled up to create a ‘log’. It is then cut into panels, creating the marbed, tree-ring effect that is unique to each piece.

The material can be used for flooring and furniture finishes.
