“BEHANDELBAR 3.0” physiotherapy practice in Sindelfingen near Stuttgart is relying on the new GEZE ActiveStop door damper. The intelligent system ensures controlled, dampened opening and closing of internal swing doors. So GEZE ActiveStop makes it easier and more comfortable to enter a room than ever before. Walls and objects around the door, and the door itself, are protected. Aspects that have been particularly appreciated recently in the new practice.
Whether with drawers, sliding doors and from now on even with interior doors: draw-in dampers make your everyday life easier and always convey the impression of comfort and high quality. Sometimes, patients are surprised by the fact that the doors to the treatment rooms of BEHANDELBAR 3.0 close almost noiselessly and remain securely shut without lock latch. “It often happens that people are surprised when first confronted with the GEZE ActiveStop”, explains Jule Kain, the manager of the physiotherapy practice. At the beginning of April 2016 she opened a branch of her practice in Sindelfingen, specialising among other things in pelvic floor and sports physiotherapy. For the doors that lead into a total of four treatment rooms, Jule Kain has chosen to install the new GEZE ActiveStop door damper, on the recommendation of her interior fitter.
Barrier-free, hygienic and aesthetic
As in any practice, hygiene has an important role in “BEHANDELBAR 3.0”. “From time to time, we work with massage oil – and in the past, we sometimes had to push the handle using our elbows, which was very annoying,” says Jule Kain. This is no longer a problem with the 28 mm wide GEZE ActiveStop door damper, which integrates almost invisibly with minor milling into the door leaf. It doesn’t matter whether you give the door a small or a hearty push – the system opens the door safely and independently, right up to the holding position which can be personally adjusted to anywhere between 60 to 140 degrees. “Of course, that’s a big advantage if you don’t have a hand free,” says Jule Kain.
As an added bonus, the door will not leave any unsightly marks or damages on walls or furniture as the door damper stops the door in time and holds it open securely, in the desired position. Separate doorstoppers are no longer necessary. An aspect that Jule Kain is particularly pleased about: “We can happily do away with unpleasant stoppers,” says the manager, grinning. “And we can say goodbye to the door banging noisily, for instance when there’s a draught!” The GEZE ActiveStop also ensures the following: thanks to active damping, the door closes slowly and quietly from about 25 degrees and prevents not only noisy slams but annoying incidents or injuries. The new GEZE solution also holds the door securely closed so you can do away with lock latches entirely. An aspect which, according to Jule Kain, always inspires the “wow effect” among patients. Doors ‘run freely’ between 25 and 60 degrees. The door damper reliably catches them from 25 or from 60 degrees.
Jule Kain herself and her team have become so accustomed to the advantages of the GEZE ActiveStop that they can no longer imagine their working day without it. “I wish I could add it to all of the doors I use!” says the physiotherapist.
Innovative double award-winning design
GEZE ActiveStop has received two awards for outstanding design. The door damper is “Winner” of the German Design Award 2016. The international prize is awarded by the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung), organiser of one of the world’s best-recognised design competitions. GEZE ActiveStop also achieved “Silver” in the international design prize Focus Open 2015. The panel of the Design Center Baden-Württemberg recognised the new GEZE door damping as an innovative solution with exceptional design quality and awarded it the first prize in the ‘Living’ category.
