5 home decor apps to inspire interior designers

IKEA has an app for its online catalogue.

Pinterest (iPhone, iPod Touch Free)

Pinterest is the third largest social network in the world. To use it, you find things you love on the internet, and then “pin” them to your Pinterest board. This includes both still images and videos. You can follow other Pinterest users and re-pin their pins, too. The iPhone app is great for exploring and viewing designs, but also for capturing and pinning your own images with your phone’s built-in camera. Sort pins by the users you follow or via categories like “Home Decor” or “Interior Design.” While there is no official app for Pinterest on Android yet, users can take advantage of the features via the Pinterest mobile website.

Houzz Interior Design Ideas (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad Free)

Houzz Interior Design Ideas app is a mecca for interior design enthusiasts. Browse more than 200,000 home design photos, and add favourites to the “Ideabook”. You can also search for information on local architects and design experts.

One Kings Lane (iPhone, iPod Touch Free)

One Kings Lane is a virtual one-stop shop for vintage finds and home goods. Sales are created for only the best of the best products from around the world. If you are in the process of redecorating your home, or if you are on the lookout for cool items to spice up your design scheme, this app is ideal.

DecorPad – Interior Design (iPhone, iPod Touch Free)

With the free DecorPad app, you can browse photos from elite designers to inspire your own home decorating. Search by the type of space you are looking to redesign, such as basements, libraries, patios. There is also a section for finding “steals and deals” if you’re on a budget.

IKEA Catalogue (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Android Free)

While IKEA’s mobile apps for iOS and Android devices do not have the same tactile feel, having the furniture and design giant’s catalogue in the palm of your hand can inspire you while on the move. IKEA is perfect for design addicts on a budget. If you see something you like, you can buy it directly from the app.
