Abu Dhabi-based lighting designer and CEO of Light Concept, Tanas Khoury, was one of five judges for the Edison Award.
This is the first time a Middle Eastern lighting designer has been part of the judging panel for this competition.
In the lighting business since 1996, Khoury was happy to have been chosen for the panel of experts.
“When I got the invitation from GE to judge the Edison Award 2011, I was really thrilled to be the first judge chosen from the Middle East over the 29 years of this important international annual award,” said Khoury.
“I was proud to accept the invitation and fly to Cleveland to meet with the other four judges and start this wonderful experience,” he added.
He said this was exposure and recognition for his work in effective use of advanced lighting designs and techniques.
“I wish this will give the Middle East and Gulf region recognition for its contribution in providing innovative designs and projects of excellence,” he concluded.
The Edison Award is an international lighting design competition; the award ceremony took place in May 2012 in Las Vegas, which picked winners from a pool of over 60 design projects.
