Qatar-based architectural and engineering firm, Arab Engineering Bureau (AEB), presented design excellence awards to graduands from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCUQatar).
Five students received the award – Zlatan Pejdah in Interior Design; and, Haneen al-Sharif, Maha al-Darwish, Maryam al-Khalifa, and Nour Hamoui in Graphic Design.
It was launched in 2007, by Ibrahim Jaidah, chief executive of AEB, and is an annual prize given to those students of the university who have performed well in the academic year.
In addition, graduating seniors would have also had to demonstrate leadership skills and sense of entrepreneurship.
The awards were presented by Jaidah, who said encouraging young talent is a priority for the firm.
“Fostering young designers is very important as they embody the vision of the present generation. We are supporting the leaders of tomorrow,” said Jaidah.
Allyson Vanstone, VCUQatar dean, appreciated the support provided by AEB, and said the awards recognised the students’ commitment to their career and future.
