AECOM has announced that it has been awarded a contract to carry out a feasibility study and design of a new deep water navigation channel at Moubarak Al Kabeer Port in Kuwait.
The company, which is currently managing the $7.4bn Doha New Port project, has been appointed by Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works to design a 40km channel and berthing basin for the port at Boubyan Island in Kuwait.
The project will involve dredging the channel, disposal of dredged material and some land reclamantion. Local consultancy SQC International will also provide technical assistance and support environmental data collection.
Craig Holland, vice-president of AECOM’s ports and marine business, said: “I am delighted that AECOM will play a role in advancing Kuwait’s logistics infrastructure.”
