Aecom has been awarded a contract to do preliminary planning and design work for Jeddah’s new metro system.
The firm was appointed by the Jeddah Metro Company to carry out pre-programme management services for the project, which is set to be an integrated package including a metro, trams and commuter rail elements containing up to 293km of track. A 750km bus network and water taxis are also planned.
Aecom Middle East chief executive David Barwell said: “We are delighted to play a key role in this important program and to support the Jeddah Metro Company.
