The former head of PR and communications for Al Jazira football club, Gergana Konova, has designed and co-founded an Italian restaurant on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, Khalidiya Area.
The name, APi CAE, derives from an ancient collection of Italian cooking manuscripts developed in the early 5th century, which is thought to be the origins of Italy’s famous cuisine.
The restaurant will specialise in homemade Italian breads, pastas and pizzas created from organic ingredients sourced both locally and internationally.
“My passion was to bring a genuine piece of Europe to Abu Dhabi,” said Konova chief operating officer, who added bringing her concept to life was a labour of love.
“Italians do food so well, not just in terms of its taste but also in the sense of occasion and the entire dining experience. At APi CAE we will be committed to quality food, made from quality ingredients and that is something I feel the people of Abu Dhabi have been missing.”
Konova worked with contractor Six Sigma on the project, Casa Mia, Italian flooring based in Dubai, and designed a waterfall in the restuarant with Waterscapes.
The 5,000 square foot restaurant will be open from 8am-10pm Sunday to Saturday and has a capacity of 150 covers.
The philosophy of the restaurant is to educate people about the true essence of Italian cuisine and to champion quality ingredients.
