Andreu World launches design competition

Andreu World has launched its 13th annual international design competition open to all designers, studios and design students, of any age.

The brief is to design an item of furniture, either a seat or a table, according to the rules on the company website.

The winner will receive EURO 3,000 cash while the second prize is EURO 1,000.


“For the seating: the main material needs to be Beech, Oak or Walnut,” said Cristina Salavert, Andreu World.

“Chairs may be upholstered to a greater or lesser extent, if considered appropriate and veneered board or plywood. For tables: the main material used must be Beech, Oak or Walnut. Tables may be veneered board or plywood.

“All designs must be new, and not marketed or disclosed prior to the date of the competition.”

Entrants need to register online at to collect a participant number.

Submissions have to be made as a 1:5 scale prototype and posted to Andreu World, C/Los Sauces 7, PO Box 127, Urbanización Olimar, E-46370 Chiva Valencia, Spain.

The deadline for entries is September 10, 2012 and an award ceremony will be held at the Andreu World Stand on September 18, at the 2012 Valencia Habitat Fair in Spain.
