Approval issued for Dubai Bluewaters bridge


Plans to build a bridge linking the recently announced Dh1.6bn Bluewaters Island porject opposite the Jumeirah Beach Residence coastline has been given approval, according local newspaper The National.

“The bridge will have two lanes in each direction in a 1.4km stretch and there will be lanes dedicated for the personal rapid transit system along with additional slipways at the junctions of Jumeirah Lakes and a service road on the Sheikh Zayed Road leading to the island extending 1.5km,” said Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of RTA.

The island itself will feature retail, residential, touristic and recreational facilities in addition to a bazaar and the world’s largest Ferris wheel.
