Architect scholarship follows Kabul orphanage project

American Institute of Architects

Work on an orphanage outside Kabul, Afghanistan, has gained a prestigious scholarship for US architect Dijana Alickovic.

She has been awarded one of 10 Jason Pettigrew Memorial Scholarships by the American Institute of Architects which recognises significant contributions to the profession by younger people.

The Master’s degree holder from the University of Utah is co-founder of the COMMONstudio group – a non-profit building design service available to community groups.

Among her other projects are working on facilities in the USA for refugees from troubled states such as Somalia, Eritrea, Bhutan and Myanmar.

The award will enable Alickovic to take professional examinations free of charge.
