Architectural event receives more than 130 entries

The call for submissions for the third International Architectural Conservation Conference and Exhibition has been closed, after receiving more than 130 papers from 31 countries worldwide.

The papers will discuss the themes of policies, strategies and decision making in historic environment, economics of conservation and sustainable environment, cultural development and awareness, management of cultural heritage in historic areas, and project implementation and practical aspects of urban conservation.

Submissions are being assessed, and applicants will be contacted during July 2012.


Eng. Rashad Bukhash, chairman of the organising committee, director of the Architectural Heritage Department, Dubai Municipality said: “The organising committee is regularly meeting with the event management company to stay in top of all the necessary measures and provide the best ways to organise a successful event.”

He confirmed the participation of HRH. Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, chief of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as an official speaker at the conference, as well as Mounir Bouchnak, the former director of International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).

Efforts are also being made to attract international personalities and professionals in the field of architectural conservation.

An exhibition will be held alongside the event to highlight the important achievements of companies operating in the field of architectural conservation.

The conference is scheduled to take place from December 17-19, 2012 in Dubai.
