Army residential complex designed for Tehran

Architecture firm Hootanpei has won a competition to design a huge army residential complex on 80 hectares of land in Tehran.

The brief requested 28-30 towers of 20-30 floors with comfortable green spaces for residents to enjoy.

The architect’s design is based on an external loop with an opening in the middle, with access from all buildings.

Due to the height of the buildings, as well as the aim to create good views, each building is built on a five storey platform, with shorter buildings surrounding the central space.

Green space is prevalent in the design, with green terraces on the roof of the smaller buildings, creating pleasant views. Roof gardens are divided into public, private and semi-private sections.
