The artist is inspired by the rich history, colourful patterns and symbolic imagery of Persian carpets, giving the ancient weaving technique a new form and context.

Sefie hand-paints all the intricate detailing and colours found in the rugs, adopting motifs such as botanic patterns, geometric shapes and graphic symbols.

His main inspiration is the way the carpet weavers were able to link each pattern, palette and style, which Sefie aims to mirror with his work. His painted carpets specifically correlate to his state of mind at the present moment.
