Artist snubs Middle East icons in ‘dream’ skyline

UK Artist Mark Lascelles Thorntorn has created a fantasy skyline with famous towers from around the world, but not the Middle East’s most famous icons.

Entitled ‘The Happiness Machine’, the pen and ink piece contains icons such as The Willis Tower (aka the Sears Tower), Taipei 101, One World Trade Center, Shanghai’s Jin Mao tower and World Financial Centre and London’s the Gherkin and the Shard.

The impressive eight by five foot spread is also populated with lower rise housing blocks and construction cranes, to give the appearance of a real city.

However, there is no place for the like of Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and Bahrain World Trade Centre.
