A British architect, artist and designer – who created the interiors for Bahrain’s embassy in Kuwait – has been honoured for her “significant contribution to the arts”.
Susan Brown (pictured) from Huddersfield, Yorkshire, received an honorary Doctorate of Arts from Leeds Metropolitan University.
She graduated from its forerunner, Leeds Polytechnic, with a degree in Three Dimensional Design/ Interior Architecture in 1979.
Brown said: “This came out of the blue, it was totally unexpected and absolutely magic. To be awarded an honorary doctorate is absolutely wonderful.”
Her first architectural commission was for a diamond merchant in Leeds and she is also a renowned artist with paintings now selling for thousands of dollars around the world.
Later this year, her work will be shown at fairs in New York, Seattle and Singapore.
