Bamboo tower designed to solve China’s housing needs

A skyscraper made from bamboo has been proposed by China-based  Tokamarch Architects to address the country’s housing needs.

It would overlook the LanCang River in XiShuangnBan Na, Yunnan province.

The design is inspired by traditional Dai homes, made of local materials such as bamboo and wood.

Bamboo fencing and indigenous plants, which form the tower’s façade, provide protection against both sun and wind.

A sense of community is enhanced by public courtyards and aerial gardens.
