The G&T Collection by Bethan Gray, has been selected by the UK Trade & Investment to contribute to a showcase of the best of modern British art and design at The British Business Embassy.
Held at Lancaster House, Central London, and taking place for six weeks during London 2012, the exhibition will introduce some of the most globally influential business leaders to British or British trained designers and manufacturers during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Spotted at Clerkenwell Design Week in May, where she launched her G&T Collection, Gray will present the Brogue sidetable in the State Dining Room, one of 18 specially curated rooms at Lancaster House.
“I am honoured to be part of British Business Embassy showcase. My designs have always been a nod to the distinctive craftsmanship that can only be found in Britain and to be recognised for this approach to my work is wonderful,” said Gray.
The Brogue table is a range of leather topped tables with solid wood bases that feature an intricate wax thread brogue finished with a hand stitched detail. Traditionally used in shoe production, brogueing is an instantly recognisable detail that resonates with G&T’s passion for craft-based techniques.
The tables are produced using top grain leather, which has been treated to give a highly durable finish. The table will age with use, creating a piece of furniture that develops it’s own individual personality, becoming a future heirloom.
At the 19th century venue of Lancaster House, Gray will show alongside both new and established designers and makers, sculptors and photographers all of whom are committed to Britain and its heritage through their work.
