A luxury branch of supermarket Carrefour is the first major retail outlet to be confirmed for the new Mall of Qatar, which is expected to be the largest shopping area in the country when it opens in late 2015.
Mall of Qatar has also announced it would include a three-part digital entertainment centre that would be the first of its kind in the Middle East.
This would include an Angry Birds Activity Park for young children, a space station educational experience and thrill rides for teenagers and adults at Virtuocity.
The development’s goal to attract 20 million visitors annually. A total of 70% of all retailers are scheduled to be confirmed by October.
A 19-screen IMAX cinema already has been announced and a fashion-themed Curio Collection by Hilton five-star hotel also will be built as part of the mall.
