China International Furniture Fair returns in 2012

The China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) Office Show is meeting the needs of the Chinese economy, which is creating a vast demand of new buildings for offices.

According to CIC Consulting, a research institute of the Chinese industrial sector, in 2010 more than 188 million square metres of office space was sold, which show a 21.9% growth rate compared to 2009.

In the months from March to July 2011, 73 new hotels of the 4- and 5-star categories were opened in China, and the business is growing.

This has stimulated Chinese designers to search for new ways to cater to the demands of clients, and to raise qualitative standards by taking advantage of European and American designers.

The trade fair specialises in products and firms that deal with the supply and interior design of offices, hospitality structures and public spaces.

The organisers said the show is also a platform for international visitors where decision makers of major companies look for a range of products to suit their needs.

For the 2012 edition, the number of participants has increased to over 900 exhibitors, out of which 650 appeared at the previous installment. To accommodate the increased number of exhibitors, the space for the show has also gone up to 190,000 square metres, which is already booked.

The sector dedicated to office furniture occupies 150,000 square metres, where exhibitors will showcase furniture and systems, chairs and accessories, lighting and structures for holistic work environments.

Apart from this, 20,000 square metres is allocated to the hotel sector and hospitality in general, where the main trends of the industry will be presented. In line with the growth trends of the segment of furniture for public spaces, the space dedicated to schools, laboratories, theatres, lounges, hospitals and public spaces will be increased to up to 20,000 square metres.

Repeating its success from the 2010 and 2011 shows, the Office Environment Theme Pavilion is back. It is the area dedicated to environmental-sustainability with the precise objective of improving the conditions of the working environments in China.

CIFF 2012 will take place at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou, China, between March 27-30, 2012.
