CID Awards 2017: Binchy and Binchy Architecture wins award for F&B design

Sponsored by Zip and presented by managing director Tracey Bamber, the award for the best food and beverage design went to Binchy and Binchy Architecture for its work on the Menagerie Eatery.

Praised for its design integrity, the project was also acclaimed for its extensive interior design that spanned beyond the branding and atmosphere and incorporated aspects like the ingredients, food presentation and functionality.

While one judge described the project as “refreshing and elegant”, another felt that Binchy and Binchy had done “an extraordinary job at making a small venue look spectacular”.

Accepting the award were co-founders Jennie and Cesar Binchy.

“It feels absolutely amazing,” said Jennie. “I think we won the award because we had an integrity of concept from start to finish. We just work really hard no matter how small or big a project is, or what the budget is. We work as hard as we can, and Dubai epitomises the spirit of possible.”

Highly commended in the food and beverage category was Ají Palm Jumeirah by Keane. Judges felt the project’s strength laid in its authenticity, bold artwork and detailing. Nonetheless, Menagerie Eatery’s balance between elegance and comfort and its attention to detail won the judges over.

“We detailed the project using LEED certified materials, fittings and specifications, which were reviewed and approved by the landlord,” said the designers. “We custom-designed the bench seating to dimensions that would use the entire available space.”

Binchy and Binchy is currently looking forward to its upcoming projects, which include a number of luxury villas in the UAE.

Other shortlisted projects are: Awani Dubai Mall by Blue Camel Design; Al Mahara by Kristina Zanic Consultants; Cho Gao by Creneau International Middle East; Nurai restaurant by 4 Space Interior Design; Roberto’s by Bishop Design LLC, and Zahira by TGP Design.
