Construction on hold for world’s tallest building

Announced to be completed within 90 days, the construction of China’s 838 metre-high Sky City tower has been put on hold just a few days after beginning work due to fear of safety and a lack of necessary governmental approval.

Chinese media channel Xinhua news announced that the project is postponed until the tower passes all relevant safety examinations and gains building permits.

The news of suspending the project was only announced after a ground-breaking ceremony held on site.

Sky City is planned to exceed the height of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, including schools, a hospital, office facilities, 17 helipads and apartments for over 30,000 people.
