“We have created a new type of water,” says Philippe Starck

at Palazzo Serbelloni on April 18, 2012 in Milan, Italy.

In a movie by online design blog Dezeen, designer Philippe Starck explained how his Axor Organic tap radically reduces water consumption by combining it with air.

Naming it “empty water,” Starck explained: “You have the feeling of having a lot of water, but you have a lot less. That is a new standard that uses less than half [as much water as] before.”

Starck stated that Organic is not a “new faucet, it’s a philosophy. It’s a big revolution because it fits with what we need for today and tomorrow.”

Organic’s form mirrors nature, he explained. “All the lines come from our body; all the lines come from vegetation. I tried to [capture] the organic energy,” said Starck.
