The annual Tanween Design Programme entries should be submitted by Tuesday April 11, with three to four UAE-based designers set to create a range of products that will be exhibited and sold at Design Days Dubai 2018.
The Tashkeel-initiated programme targets UAE-residing designers from any discipline of design, to create a range of products that work towards defining a design aesthetic that is innately from the Emirates.
It is based on a long-term experimental process that involves an annual rotation of selected participants.
The fifth edition of the programme will run from May 2017 through to Design Days Dubai 2018. The work of the selected designers will be displayed as part of Tashkeel’s design product label, Tanween.
Designers will see support in terms of research and experimentation with materials and process, as well as the development of prototypes via regular interaction with and on-going support from Tashkeel-operated series of LABS. These LABS are developed in collaboration with UK-based independent project manager, Helen Voce.
Here are the designers selected for last year’s edition.
