Saudi BAUER Foundation Contractors announced it had signed a deal for the enabling works for the one-kilometre-tall Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
A company press statement added: “The enabling works include 270 bored piles of 1.5 and 1.8m diameters, which have to be installed into the difficult ground conditions down to depths of 110m in order to provide the building’s foundations.”
The foundation work on Kingdom is scheduled to begin before the end of December and take about 10 months, the company said.
Bauer also did the piling work for Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, which will lose its crown of the world’s tallest building to the Kingdom Tower.
The tower is also designed by Burj Khalifa architect Adrian Smith, along with his team at AS+GG.
