The Design Museum has revealed its nominations for Design of the Year 2014 which encompasses the worlds of architecture, interiors, art and fashion.
Architects including Zaha Hadid, David Chipperfield and John Pawson, and designers such as Tracey Neuls and Konstantin Grcic have been named on the shortlist by the London institution.
The Heydar Aliyev Center, in Baku, Azerbaijan designed by Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher is one of the front runners in the competition which also includes a floating school in a lagoon in Nigeria,
Other designs recognised include a calendar made of Lego, a dome made of silk and an arts centre inside a shipbuilding warehouse.
All 76 projects will be shown in an exhibition at the Design Museum in London from 26 March to 25 August, and winners from each category and one overall winner will be announced later in the year.
