Design Road, organised by the Creative Dialogue Association, is a series of workshops, seminars and an exhibition carried out by international designers and creative professionals to share experiences with local creatives.
All workshops take place in collaboration with the Elisava – Barcelona School of Design and Engineering, and the Kingston University London, with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Culture. The local partner for Design Road’s UAE leg is Tashkeel.
Dubai will see Design Road in the city, running seven workshops from December 1-5, 2011, at Tashkeel in Nad Al Sheba.
These workshops include: Coolhunting Design/Urban Immersion by Jorge Rodriguez; Exhibition Design by Rosa Roca Pera; Retail Design/Tectonic Pattern by Carmelo Zappulla; Event Design/Creative Dialogue by Samer Yamani; Motion Graphics Design/The brand management in television by Antoni Colomer Campos; Urban Design/Maps of extensive and intensive urban public space by Christoph Lueder; and, Curating Contemporary Design by Gillian Russell.
The logo for Design Road Dubai 2011 was created by Spanish designer, Josep Basora. “We wanted an image that symbolises the meeting, dialogue, brotherhood. We believe that tea time met all of these concepts into one, and a teapot was the perfect synthesis for this moment. We drew the teapot using the same modules that make up the identity of Design Road,” he said.
The first Design Road in 2010 went through Damascus, Amman and Manama, where Spanish designers and artists shared their knowledge and design ideas with local professionals.
