DORMA, which supplies door technology products and systems has announced the acquisition of the Door Service Centre (DSC), its long standing distributor in Kuwait.
The acquisition deal has obtained necessary regulatory approvals as per the Kuwaiti federal laws. As part of the agreement, DORMA Kuwait is now established as a shareholder entity with a country office in charge of operations in the region.
As per the acquisition, the firm has acquired DSC’s Automatic Sales, Maintenance & Service, and Installation & Hardware business as of November 2011. Although, DSC will continue as a producer and supplier of steel and wooden doors and remain as a key DORMA customer.
The move will strengthen the company’s market position in the region and enable the company to rollout its product portfolio spanning door hardware, glass, automatic, movable walls and security time access.
“DORMA Kuwait’s establishment reflects a strategic realignment and bolstering of our existing sales channels in the country,” said Ben Shaw, regional director, DORMA MENA.
“With this strategic acquisition, we will now offer integrated solutions for all door technology needs of the customers covering the entire delivery processes from project specifications to commissioning and technical support under a corporate brand.”
The company has increased its market share in the Middle East and North Africa over the past seven years and has a 35% share of the door controls and automatic business in Kuwait.
The group saw sales of EURO 944.4 million in fiscal year 2010/11 (June 30).
